New year

Yet again the blog has been neglected due to Christmas but a new year is almost upon us and after the new year I should have a bit more time to write to my pointless blog. Anyway have a great new year…

Come on Rage!

Well wouldn’t it be great if rage against the machine do it later today! I bought my single and that’s all I can do. My fingers are crossed that they have topped the charts and bet the X Factor. It really is nothing to do with the young boy who sang the song I think he’s a lovely guy but the X Factor has gone too far as far as Christmas #1s are concerned.

I have my last bud on my shelf. If they do it I’ll have to crack it open.

The potential of the World Wide Web

The world wide web: A vast network of web pages inside websites all linked together. Truly one of the greatest inventions of all time. By using the Hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) we can transfer data to any web browser. But I think the WWW has a long way to go. We’re too inconsistent. We have applications which take up half the screen, computer games which are full screen, and maximized windows which take up all of it’s designated space.

A quick thought… Will we ever be more consistent? In my ideal world web sites would have the option to be full screen (for example. the visitor is shown a button labelled “Launch full screen” where they’re presented with a full screen web page which still follows all the laws laid down by the HTTP protocol.

A pointless thought which I probably haven’t conveyed properly as it’s 3.15am.

2007; the year everything changed for me. I had left secondary school and started at Ayr College. A once semi-popular SHOUTcast Statistics program was put on hold. I was starting to realise that something which won’t make me any money in the long run isn’t worth working on, whereas college will eventually get me a degree. I started development of “Statistics” in around 2004 when I was a young visual basic developer using visual basic 6! It really was a big deal for me to just stop coding my software and focus on what really mattered. I suppose I got through this by promising myself I’d complete “pre-beta statistics version 4″ which was now lying on my Rysin Online site doing nothing. Essentially frozen. Who cares? What an idiot.
